Agile has increased in popularity over the past few years as a way of delivering technology products at pace. However, agile delivery can present a challenge to organizations working in highly regulated industries such as Financial Services. In this webinar, Curt Holst (Digital Accessibility Manager) and Paul Cavanagh (Lean Control Product Owner) will discuss the approach taken by Barclays to maintain a control environment whilst leveraging agile ways of working to accelerate Barclays digital adoption and delivery.
- Participants will understand how agile delivery can take place in a highly regulated environment and lessons for less regulated environments
- Participants will hear how accessibility is managed as a risk within control environments
- Participants will learn how accessibility can be managed during a large transition program
Curt Holst joined Barclays in June 2013 after ten years as an accessibility consultant with the charity AbilityNet. Curt's role within the team is to ensure that technologies used by colleagues, customers and suppliers are designed and developed with accessibility in mind from the outset by engaging technology teams internally, as well as external experts to leverage accessibility best practice, and to boost awareness of accessibility amongst a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation.
Curt is also involved in the maintenance of Barclays Accessibility Standards and Assessments which projects use to gauge the level of compliance with these standards and has lead work on behalf of the team to ensure that our mobile banking apps have received accessibility accreditation and is leading on the implementation of automated testing as part of our move to Agile. He his involved on day-to-day basis with project teams acting as consultant and in compliance/dispensation approval as well as providing consulting and training to these teams. Curt is also on the Organisational Development committee of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals. He believes strongly that accessibility should become part-and-parcel of total customers' experience we provide and embedded within the Barclays culture.
Paul Cavanagh has worked in Financial Services for over 30 years in a variety of roles, and has been with Barclays since 2011.
He is the Product Owner for the Lean Control Tool which supports the governance processes for the development of application software across Barclays. He has his own small agile development team who over the last 4 years have helped him evolve the Tool and process to help technologists across Barclays deliver better products, faster, safer, transparently and sustainably.
He holds an MBA and is an experienced Enterprise Architect focusing on identifying organizational and technological opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness and value.
