Accessibility audits and its recommendations ,as well as implementing universal design measures for persons with disabilities and other beneficiaries would be best implemented if the consultant and the client have an accessibility strategy and action plan considering priorities, timelines, milestones. The action plan is essential for large construction projects, urban developments and cities, especially under budget constraints, from the public and private sector. The webinar objective is to provide examples of existing worldwide accessibility strategies at the city level and how to outline an action plan for any building or facility.

Speaker Bio(s):

Headshot of Andres Balcazar
Andres Balcazar is a Mexico City based architect and consultant. He’s been accessibility and disability consultant for national and international organizations from the private, public and civil society sectors. Andres currently works for the Mexican Human Rights Commission as Director of Disability Affairs. His latest international assignments include participation in accessibility related training for the Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority staff in 2019, and the development of the Kuwait Universal Design Code.He has participated in international research studies on disability and accessibility, including development of guidelines and standards.
