In this webinar, we'll shine the spotlight on CSS and SVG, and we'll see how they come into play when making truly accessible web designs. We'll talk about how to make SVG even more accessible than it is by default and how to avoid certain 'gotchas'. We'll discuss the pros and cons of icon fonts vs SVG icons, as well as CSS font loading strategies and how it could affect accessibility.

We'll discuss how flexbox and CSS grid will affect web design, and look at it from the lens of web accessibility and progressive enhancement. Lastly, we'll delve into the concept of 'user queries' and see how we can use CSS to provide things like a site with reduced motion for animation for those who prefer it, and have better optminizations in a high contrast theme for a site.

  • Participants will learn how to make SVG accessible
  • Participants will hear how to keep accessibility in mind when writing CSS
  • Participants will realize that SVG and CSS are as important to accessibility as other factors like ARIA, Semantic HTML and JavaScript
