Wayfindr eLearning course on Audio-based Indoor and Outdoor Network Navigation Systems for Persons with Vision Impairment.IAAP is pleased to announce our strategic alliance with Wayfindr. IAAP supports Wayfindr’s goal to encourage the development of accessible audio navigation systems across the world.
Wayfindr has developed the world’s first internationally-recognized standard for accessible audio navigation for persons with visual impairments, the Wayfindr Open Standard. The Standard is recognized by the International Telecommunication Union as Recommendation ITU-T F.921. Use of the standard ensures that audio navigation systems are accessible to persons with visual impairments.
Accessible audio-based navigation will empower persons with visual impairments to travel spontaneously and independently. Indoor navigation systems all over the world can be made accessible for those living with sight loss.
The Wayfindr course is the first-ever online ‘indoor’ digital navigation certificate course, delivered through the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) – the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies, responsible for developing global technical standards.
